The modern municipality of Burg Reuland (see map at right) is a cluster of about a dozen villages located north of the point at which the borders of Luxembourg, Germany, and Belgium meet. Ouren is the southernmost village in the municipality.
Visualizing the border triangle
In 2019, during one her visits to her ancestral homeland, Sharon Klaers, one of the team members responsible for this site, posed with her brother and sister-in-law at the point where the three borders meet--right in the middle of the Our River. Sharon, wearing the maroon jacket, has crossed the short footbridge over the Our into Germany. Her younger brother Joe, in the foreground, is in Ouren, Belgium. Sister-in-law Michelle is in Luxembourg. The distance between Joe and Sharon is about fifty yards.
